The New Penistone Road Smart Route is a project designed to tackle congestion on Penistone Road between Wadsley Bridge and Shalesmoor.

On this website you will find background information about Penistone Road and this project. You can also view a film showing the previously proposed changes to improve travel along Penistone Road, feedback from the 2008 public consultation, and a list of FAQS.

During 2010, we will make an application to the Department for Transport for funding. Following that, we will consult you again on the proposals. This consultation is likely to start in summer 2010.

The project is being developed by Sheffield City Council (SCC), working in partnership with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) and the South Yorkshire Local Transport Plan Partnership (SYLTP).
