Aims
 The Ecclesall Road Smart Route is part of a wider commitment by Sheffield City Council and the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive to improve transport links along major routes into and out of the city centre.
The aims of the Ecclesall Road Smart Route are to:
- Improve traffic flow and reduce journey times for all road users.
- Tackle congestion and delays by improving key hotspots and junctions.
- Improve the reliability and punctuality of public transport.
- Provide better bus stops with RealTime information.
- Improve road safety.
- Ensure parking availability in the wider area.
- Provide better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians, such as new crossing points and better street lighting.
- Contribute towards reducing carbon dioxide emissions and improving air quality.
- Bring long term economic, environmental and social benefits to the area.
