Background
An important element of the QBC programme was to make public transport a more attractive option for people to use, without making travel difficult for the car driver. Over the last few years, public transport has become more readily available, with bus services such as the X78 providing efficient access along the corridor. However, there is still room for improving travel between Rotherham and Thrybergh, and the Smart Route solution is now being applied to look at tackling some of the key problem areas identified for further improvement. |

Over the last few years Rotherham Council, in partnership with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, have been developing a number of ‘Quality Bus Corridors’ (QBC) in various locations around Rotherham. Their aim has been to improve travel for all road users, whether they travel by bus, on foot, by bicycle or by car. The A630 Rotherham – Thrybergh corridor was one of the QBCs being developed.
