Key Problem Areas...
The locations shown on the map below have been highlighted as existing problem areas along the A630 between Conisbrough and Doncaster, and some of the possible improvements in the area.
As well as looking to make improvements in these areas, we also intend to improve the timing of traffic lights along the corridor to provide priority for buses. The existing bus lane along Balby Bridge will also be reintroduced to provide further benefits for road users.
You can learn more about the current problems that road users experience when travelling along the A630 by clicking on the different areas shown on the map, with the key problems then being described on the map below. Any proposals to improve these areas will only be developed following extensive consultation with the local public.
Sandford Road Junction
Traffic travelling along the A630 is regularly congested at the traffic light controlled junction with Sandford Road (A60). We are looking at how best to reduce congestion into Doncaster town centre and improve bus journey times.
We are also looking at how best to improve the out of town junction where road users are also often delayed due to vehicles turning left onto Sandford Road (A60).
Hall Flat Lane Junction
The Hall Flat Lane junction often sees traffic queuing in both directions along the A630. We are looking at how to improve traffic flow through this junction to both reduce delays for all road users and provide improved bus journey times for bus services running along the corridor.
Warmsworth Road
The area around Warmsworth Road is densely populated and, at present, there are very few safe crossings provided. We are looking at ways to make it safer for pedestrians to cross this busy stretch of road.
A1 (M) Roundabout
The A1 (M) Roundabout is one of the busiest sections of the A630 with high levels of traffic both travelling along the A630 and onto the corridor from junction 36 of the A1 (M).
We are looking at ways to improve traffic flow in both directions between the A1 (M) roundabout and Edlington crossroads.
Low Road, Conisbrough
Delays are often caused at the A630 junction with Low Road as queues build up behind vehicles turning right into Low Road, Conisbrough. We are looking at ways to improve the road layout to reduce congestion.
