A630 Key Bus Route

Associated Works...

Traffic along the A630As well as the Smart Route proposals, a number of other improvements are due to take place along the corridor in the next year:

Improvements to bus stops along the route

All bus stops along the route are being upgraded and clearways will be introduced to restrict parking, making it easier for buses to pull up to the kerb. Each bus stop will be fitted with raised kerbs and tactile paving to make it easier for all passengers, particularly those with disabilities or with pushchairs, to get on and off buses more easily and safely. Modern and improved bus shelters are also proposed at key stops to make waiting for the bus much more comfortable and pleasant, with RealTime passenger information keeping passengers better updated on when their bus will arrive.

Works to improve all bus stops along the route are expected to be finished in early 2011.

Strengthening of Balby Bridge

Important works to strengthen Balby Bridge are now underway. When completed, these works would allow the suspended bus lanes to be reopened.

Resurfacing Edlington Lane

During previous consultations many of you requested that Edlington Lane was resurfaced. This work is expected to commence on the 30th January 2011 for 12 Sundays. To allow us to complete these work safely this will involve some Sunday closures.

National Grid Gas

National Grid Gas is carrying out important work to replace a gas main that runs beneath the A630. This work is being co-ordinated with any Smart Route works in order to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum. If you have any questions relating to this gas alliance work please contact Craig Silcock, Project Manager, on 01302 849569.
